Trade
Užice has been an important trade centre throughout the history.Over the centuries important trade routes passed through the city, leading from Constantinopole to Sarajevo and Dubrovnik. After the Second World War the trading company Gradina was founded in Utica. For decades Gradina used to be the company employing 1,500 people and the leader in both the wholesale and retail trade in western Serbia, eastern Bosnia and northern Montenegro. Unfortunately, Gradina serves as an example of unsuccessful transition. After the company had been sold and a short period during which it worked, some problems appeared and the privatization was annulated. Since this year the new buyer of Gradina has been Lili drugstore from Belgrade.
Among the big trading chains doing business in Utica there are Delta Maksi and Idea.
Kolori Užice is a trading company which is engaged in wholesale and retail trade. The company is also the regional centre of the National chain of joined trade in Serbia (CBA).
An important distributor for retail trade objects is also the enterprise Sreten Gudurić , which has as its main activity the production of bread and baked goods.
