Natural resources of the Municipality of Užice
According to the natural restrictions and favorabilities , several typical zones can be distinguished on the territory of the Municipality:
Alluvial planes of the rivers Đetinja and Lužnica with their tributaries make up 2 zones with the area of about 3 km2 ,suitable for the development of all economic activities and settlements , and they have mostly been used for agriculture, traffic arteries, industry and housing. By being used exclusively for industry and urban housing , this area can provide for 1,500 non-agricultural inhabitants.
- The second transition zone is between the altitudes of 500 and 700 . In one part its suitability is in being accessible every day and complementary with the first zone. This zone is suitable for some kinds of agricultural activities(fruit production) and for settlements(the family type with the density of 50 inhabitants per ha ).Lower parts of the zone by the alluvial plane could be enough for settling of the total number of the inhabitants employed in agriculture or industry from the first zone.Due to the abrupt slopes this zone has been attacked and endangered by erosion and its use in the agriculture must be very cautious.
- The third zone consists of the plateaus at the altitude of 600-850m , that is the northern part of Zlatibor plateau and the valley of Kremna, which going to the south merge with the spacious area of Zlatibor. Those are the additional lowlands areas suitable for the developments of settlements , industry and agriculture , with some climatic restrictions typical of areas with higher altitude. The area of this zone is about 27 km2.
- The fourth zone is made up of the slopes of Tara and Šargan, with a bigger slope, of the altitude of more than 700 m. This zone is suitable for the development of forestry, ore exploitation and development of tourism , which can bring about conflicts on the same area. The settlements have a tendency of dying out and stagnation , excluding the narrow valley of the river Kamešina which is convenient for development of settlements and industry.
- The fifth zone consists of the plateau of Tara which is at the altitude of almost 1000m. These terrains are suitable for cattle breeding, production of cattle food and for mountain tourism. They have been covered by the boundaries of the National park of Tara , that is by the protected area of the National park.
On the plateaus of Na Zlatibor and Tara in the third and fifth zone , forests are a precious prerequisite for the tourism development.
