TRANSPORT

ROAD NETWORK

The municipality of  Užice is connected to its wider surroundings by a road and railway transport network.

The main roads  have been constructed as the traffic arteries with 2 lanes except for the section Užice - Bela Zemlja on the road M21 and the section of the curve Previja on the road M5 where on the ascent the third highway lane is introduced. The roadway is 6-10 m wide , with embankments of 0,5m to 1m son both sides. Some parts of the motorways M19.1 on the section Dubci-Zaglavak have inadequate geometric characteristics because the radiuses of the horizontal bends are 12m, 15m, 20m and 25m and on the motorway M5 on the section Bioska - Kremna , where the width of the road 4m do 5m, radiuses of horizontal bends are from15m to 40m.

Regional roads R213, R230 and R263 were constructed as the traffic arteries with 2 lanes, the width of the road is 4-5 m , with the embankments which are o.501 m wide, the asphalt layer , except for the section of the road R213 leading from Mokra Gora to the border with the municipality of Bajina Bašta , the total length of which is 1.800m and which has the gravel surface layer. There are some damages on the road which are caused by inadequately made road construction.

Local roads- the network of local and uncategorized roads meets the needs of connecting the settlements and the inhabited areas on the territory of the Municipality. The quality of the road construction and the surface layers on the road is not adequate in relation to the needs which arose by opening the new production capacities , mainly in the wood-processing industry. Unfavourable geometric characteristics of the local roads( the longer slopes of more than 15% and the radiuses of the bends which are under 80 m) caused by the hilly-mountainous terrain are typical of more than 50 % of the road network .

Traffic arteries within the City - Užice is a city with irregular linear network characterized by a great number of intersections (around 600) , with rather long slopes (above 15 %) , with the total area of traffic arteries which is about 40% less than in the cities with similar area and the number of inhabitants. The transit roads go through the central area of the city.During the year 2006 the construction activities were started on building the southern city by-pass leading from Volujac  to Surduk.

RAILWAY TRANSPORT

By the railway network the municipality of Užice is connected to the one-gauge electrified railway line Belgrade-Bar , which serves both for the passenger and cargo transport and its length on the territory of the municipality is 23.3 km.The railway station Užice is located at the rim of the central zone of the city. There are also local railway stations in Stapari, Krcagovo and Sevojno. The narrow-gauge railway Šargan - Vitasi - Mokra Gora - Kotroman is particularly interesting from the aspect of tourism and it serves for passenger public transport.

AIR TRANSPORT

The existing civil airport Ponikve is not in function at the moment due to the damages made during the bombing of 1999. Its sanitation with the aim of being used for civil purposes is underway.

ELECTROENERGETIC INFRASTRUCTURE

THE CURRENT STATE
On the whole territory of the municipality the electricity is distributed from TS 110/35 kV "Gornja Pora" via TS 35/10 kV "Dovarje", "Terazije", "Uremovački potok", "Krčagovo", "Carina", "Bela Zemlja", "Pora" and "Kremna". The electric   station 35/10 kV "Sevojno 1" gets the supplies from TS 110/35 kV "Sevojno", as well as the biggest consumer The Copper and Aluminum Rolling Mills , directly via the transformation 110/6 kV. The network of 10 kV in the city area as well as in Sevojno is made up of cables ( the underground one).

DISTRICT HEATING AND GAS NETWORK

The need to have organized district heating on the territory of the municipality ,has existed  mainly in urban area including some suburbs. This need has been especially emphasized in recent years , due to the increased air pollution which is primarily the result of the badly introduced system of district heating of the city and the suburbs. The heating of other settlements of the municipality has been solved through individual means of heating , where wood and coal are the most widely used energents. Such way of heating satisfies the needs of the smaller settlements , while for the bigger4 settlements such as Kremna, Mokra Gora, Karan and Krvavci, the centralized district heating system could be introduced .

The municipality of Užice, except for the fire-wood , has no other resources of heat energy. In recent years the municipality has invested considerable financial funds in bringing the natural gas to the City, which is in essence the main potential for district heating.

TELECOMMUNICATION SYSTEMS

Telephone facilities on the territory covered by the S[atial plan of the municipality of Užice consist of the following: public telephone exchanges, the system of transfer and the access telephone network.

COMMUNAL FACILITIES

Depositing the communal waste on the territory of the municipality of Užice can be assessed as inadequate and old-fashioned , especially in the villages , whilst the situation is somewhat better in the centre of the municipality. The existing landfill of solid waste on Sarica Osoje is mostly filled up and its rebuilding and new cultivation of the whole area is necessary. Due to the badly organized transport and disposal of communal waste in the village settlements there is a mass phenomenon of “illegal” landfills , on the whole territory of the municipality . The most important problem is related to solid waste management and it must be solved in a systematic way for the whole area of the municipality.
